Maddalena Penitente is a marble sculpture (height about 90 cm), made by the Treviso sculptor Antonio Canova and dated between 1793 and 1796 . It was bought by the French diplomat Commissioner Juliot, passed in 1808 to the Milanese patron Count Giovanni Battista Sommariva and, after his death, to Mr. d'Aguado. The original version is preserved at Palazzo Doria-Tursi in the exhibition itinerary of the Strada Nuova Museums in Genoa . This is a copy from the Museo Gipsoteca Antonio Canova.
